Jump, Fall, Trust

Psalm 37:23-24 The steps of a good man are ordered by the Lord: and he delighteth in his way. Though he fall, he shall not be utterly cast down: for the Lord upholdeth him with his hand.

One of our Pastors, Pastor Jake, told a story of how he was jumping out of an airplane, as a paratrooper, and during the routine jump, he started noticing his comrades shuts were not opening and they we falling to their death. In this split second situation he leaned on his faith in God and put his hand in his pocket searching for a little red bible that he always had, and began talking to God.

One thing he told God in that prayer was, God it wouldn’t be good for me to die right now, it’s not my time to die. Well, he’s alive and well having made it safely to the ground to tell his story. In life you have to jump. You have to be willing to trust and believe in something.

We call it faith but it’s not always God that has our full trust. We cannot afford to trust ourselves nor anyone else more than God. The situations of life that we all go through, demand that we rely on God having our back and there are no other options.

Jump, fall, trust. You have to remove the current situation out from under your feet and move to a higher place of believing with your heart, body, mind, will, spirit and emotions that you will make it when you jump. Jumping is hard but it is necessary.

Prayer: God I’m going to jump, to do what you’ve been telling me to do and I believe that you have my back.
